On September 28, 2019, the Khalifa Stadium in Doha hosted the women's 10,000m final at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships.

Kenya's Agnes Tirop secured a bronze medal in the event, finishing in 30:25.20. The 26-year-old was outsprinted by Ethiopia's Letesenbet Gidey, who won silver in 30:21.23.

However, it was Dutch runner Sifan Hassan who stole the show, winning the gold medal in a record-breaking time of 30:17.62. This was Hassan's first ever global outdoor title, and she celebrated in style.

Kenya's 5,000m World champion Hellen Obiri, who was one of the pre-race favourites, finished fifth behind compatriot Rosemary Wanjiru.
