Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski made history on Saturday, September 28, 2019, as the team took the top spot in the Bundesliga with a 3-2 win over Paderborn.

Leipzig, who were previously in the top spot, crashed against Schalke in a 3-1 loss, allowing Bayern to take advantage and move to the top of the table.

Philippe Coutinho played a key role in Bayern's win, setting up Serge Gnabry for the opening goal with a sublime first-half pass.

Coutinho also scored his first Bayern goal in the second half, tapping home Gnabry's neat pass.

However, Paderborn's Jamilu Collins scored a late goal to make it 3-2, but it was too little, too late for the bottom club.

Meanwhile, in Leipzig, Morocco international midfielder Amine Harit inspired Schalke to an impressive away win, drilling home a penalty and setting up a first Bundesliga goal for Welsh teenager Rabbi Matondo.

The Royal Blues raced into a 2-0 lead with first-half goals, and Harit's penalty sealed the win for Schalke.

Bayern's win, combined with Leipzig's loss, saw the team move to the top of the table, while Schalke leapt from fifth to second and Leipzig dropped to third.
