On September 28, 2019, Zimbabwe's former president Robert Mugabe was laid to rest in his rural village of Kutama, marking the end of a long journey for the country's former leader.
Mugabe, who died in a Singapore hospital on September 6, 2017, at the age of 95, had ruled Zimbabwe with an iron fist for 37 years before a military coup ended his reign in 2017.
According to an AFP reporter at the scene, Mugabe's body was buried in a private ceremony, bringing closure to a chapter in Zimbabwe's history that was marked by controversy and turmoil.
