Kenyan Trio Makes a Strong Showing at 2019 World Athletics Championships

On a successful Saturday at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Kenyan athletes Emmanuel Korir, Ferguson Rotich, and Kipngetich Ng'eno made a strong showing in the men's 800m event, advancing to the semi-finals.

Ng'eno, who finished second in the Kenyan trials, won Heat 2 with a time of 1:46.07, ahead of Spaniard Adrián Ben and Great Britain's Adam Webb. The top three finishers secured automatic qualifying slots, with Brannon Kidder from the US sneaking through as one of the best losers.

Rotich won Heat 4 in 1:45.98, with the top five runners in this heat advancing to the semi-finals. Korir had the fastest time in the qualifying rounds, clocking 1:45.16, with Morocco's Mostafa Smaili and Puerto Rico's Wesley Vázquez finishing second and third respectively.
