On September 28, 2019, a Kakamega court convicted James Amakobe of sodomising a 13-year-old boy.

The court heard that Amakobe, a neighbour of the boy, lured him to his house on February 3, 2019, where he committed the act.

Amakobe was also charged with an alternative count of committing indecent acts with a minor.

Prosecution witnesses testified that the boy was playing with his peers when Amakobe approached them and asked him to accompany him to his house.

The boy's teacher later confirmed the incident, and he was taken to Bukura Health Center where a P3 Form was issued.

Amakobe's defense that the matter had been fabricated to settle personal scores was dismissed by the prosecution witnesses.

He now faces a sentence of not less than 20 years in jail as per section 8(3) of the Sexual Offences Act.

Amakobe sought leniency, saying he is remorseful and that he's a first-time offender.
