Published on September 28, 2019, Kandara MP Alice Wahome has joined the chorus of Jubilee MPs demanding the resignation of Gender Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh.

Wahome, who is the chairlady of the Inua Mama political outfit allied to Deputy President William Ruto, made the demands during an Inua Mama, Jenga Taifa rally in Tharaka Nithi.

She accused Shebesh of abandoning her duties and meeting young men at night, saying, 'You are meeting young men at night while you need to be working for the people.'

Wahome also warned that Shebesh is headed for destruction, saying, 'Shebesh is a public servant. You were given a job by Uhuru. The way she is now headed, she is going to destruction.'

The demands come in the wake of rising political temperatures in Jubilee as a result of Shebesh's remarks alleging that DP Ruto and his allies used underhand means and the backdoor to 'force' President Uhuru Kenyatta to endorse MacDonald Mariga for the Kibra by-election.

Shebesh had claimed that she was at State House on the day that DP Ruto went to State House and witnessed the whole drama on the day that photos of President Uhuru Kenyatta endorsing Mariga emerged.

Shebesh declared, 'Hiyo siku mnasikia ya kweka kofia mimi nilikuwa statehouse. Mimi najua namna waliingia state house na mlango ya nyuma. Mimi najua jinsi waliweka pressure ya hiyo piha mliona.'

Wahome's demands have been echoed by other Jubilee MPs, including Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Ngirici, who has threatened to crack the whip and send Shebesh packing.
