On September 25, 2019, a father's swift action led to the arrest of five men in Huruma, Nairobi, who were suspected of being involved in a robbery case.
The suspects, Rooney Bob Agego, George Owino Okoth, Evans Ochieng, Agengo Masika, and Gabriel Batistuta, were arrested on Wednesday evening after one of them was escorted to the Huruma police station by his father.
According to reports, the five men allegedly robbed businessman Noah Kitonyi in Mathare last month. Kitonyi was robbed by six men armed with two guns while in the company of his friend who had called him to his house.
The police obtained court orders to detain the suspects until Monday to conclude investigations. The officer investigating the matter had sought five days' custodial orders, but the chief magistrate, Heston Nyaga, allowed them two days only and directed that the suspects be arraigned before him on Monday.
