On September 28, 2019, close relatives of the late Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen pleaded with the authorities to deny his widow, Sarah Wairimu, bail, citing concerns for their own safety.

According to sworn affidavits filed in court by Tob's brother, Bernard Cohen, and sister, Gabrielle Cohen, they fear that if Sarah is released on bail, their lives will be in danger.

The siblings claim that the manner in which Tob was murdered and the fact that they are immediate family members and witnesses against Sarah make them vulnerable to being targeted for elimination.

They also alleged that if Sarah is released on bail, she is capable of interfering with the evidence and threatening the witnesses, citing a previous ruling by Kiambu Chief Magistrate Priscilla Gichohi, who found Sarah to have coached witnesses to give false testimony.

As a result, the siblings are urging the court to deny Sarah bail, arguing that she cannot be trusted to refrain from coaching witnesses if she is released.
