Published on September 28, 2019, the World Championships in Doha are set to witness Kenya's top 800m runners take centre stage tonight.

Emmanuel Korir, who is sixth on the world all-time list, will lead Kenya's squad in the men's 800m event. He will be accompanied by 2016 Diamond League trophy winner Ferguson Rotich, who is second on this year's world list, and World Under-20 silver medalist Kipngetich Ngeno.

Rotich has been unpredictable at major championships, but is hoping Doha will see him among the podium places. Ngeno, who won the Kenyan trials, is a strong medal contender.

The men's 800m promises to be one of the most fascinating unfolding narratives of these Championships, with Botswana's Nijel Amos and American Donovan Brazier among the favourites.

Kenya will also feature in the mixed relays event, which is on the programme for the first time. The team will consist of Mary Moraa, Gladys Musyiki, Alfas Kishoyian, Alex Sampao, and Joseph Poghisio.
