Published on September 27, 2019, a tragic incident occurred at Auchi Polytechnic in Edo state, Nigeria, where a 17-year-old Nigerian football star, Junior Duru, was reportedly killed in a shootout between rival cult groups.

Junior Duru, the younger brother of Lobi Stars defender Ebube Duru, was visiting his friend on campus when the incident occurred.

According to reports, Junior Duru was among the invited players for the Golden Eaglets campaign but did not make the final squad for the ongoing UEFA/CAF U-17 tournament in Turkey.

His elder brother, Ebube Duru, a Lobi Stars player, has reacted to his death, stating that it was painful learning about his brother's demise.

Ebube Duru further revealed that the deceased planned to become a professional footballer but now death has taken him away at a very young age.

He expressed his determination to make his brother proud by playing the game to the highest level.
