KPA, Thunder Set for Heated KBF Showdown

Published on September 27, 2019

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and Thunder are set to clash in a highly anticipated Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) match at the Nyayo Gymnasium this weekend.

With three matches left before the post-season, KPA sit third on the KBF men's Premier League standings, while Thunder are one place better despite having played one extra match.

Both teams are seeking to avoid tough opposition in the play-offs, making the encounter a must-win for both sides.

Thunder head coach Sadat Guya has identified KPA's new additions and Aerial Okal as key players to stop, while KPA's captain Griffin Ligare is confident that his team can deny Thunder second chances.

However, Thunder are still assessing the condition of their guard Shem Obiero, who is recovering from an injury he sustained in practice.

On the other hand, KPA's captain Samuel Ocholla believes it's payback time after losing in the first leg at their backyard in Mombasa.

Here are the fixtures for the weekend:

  • Saturday (Men): KCA-U vs Blades, Thunder vs KPA, Lakeside vs Umoja
  • Saturday (Women): Tangit Sparks vs Zetech
  • Sunday (Men): World Hope vs USIU-Nyayo, Equity vs Blades – Nyayo
  • Sunday (Women): Western Delight vs UON Dynamites-Kakamega, USIU vs ANU-Nyayo
