On September 27, 2019, the Kenyan shooting team arrived safely in Cape Town, South Africa, ahead of the IDPA African Championships competition.

The competition, which has attracted over 300 participants from across Africa, Europe, the USA, and Asia, will take place at the False Bay Sports Shooting Club in Glencairn quarry.

Master Shooter Sammy Onyango, the only Kenyan safety officer officiating in the African Championships tier 4 competition, credits his appointment to self-dedication, training, and mental strength.

Onyango led the Kenyan team, comprising 21 participants, including 3 master shooters - Robert Nyamongo, Mohammed Omar, and the recently elevated master Sammy Onyango - and other categories such as Expert, Sharpshooter, Marksman, and Novice.

At just 19 years old, Mahir Omar, Kenya's youngest expert shooter, has had a steady record this season and promises to show the world that becoming a Master Shooter in your teens is within range.
