September 27, 2019, marks Google's 21st birthday, and the tech giant is celebrating with a nostalgic doodle of an old computer.

Google was invented by two students, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who initially worked on the project from their campus dorm room. The project, initially known as Backrub, aimed to organize the world's information on an easy and accessible platform.

As of 2006, the word 'Google' was added to the Miriam Webster and Oxford dictionaries, and it is now commonly used to mean 'search'. Today, Google is the most popular search engine, with reportedly over 60,000 searches per second.

Google's growth has been remarkable, with the company now owning YouTube, smartphone (Pixel), smart speaker (Google Home), and mobile computer hardware sectors. According to the Economic Times, Google's estimated net worth is around $300 billion, and its parent company is worth approximately $900 billion.
