Co-operative Bank has partnered with the Beth Mugo Cancer Foundation and other organizations to host a free cancer screening camp in Kakamega county on September 27, 2019.
The event, which will be held at Lumakanda Primary School in Lugari Constituency, is part of the bank's Prevention of Cancer campaign, a five-year initiative that will cost Ksh. 10 million.
Dr. Gideon Muriuki, Co-operative Bank Group MD & CEO, said, "We appeal to other corporate institutions and Kenyans of goodwill to join hands and create a movement around the importance of early screening and testing for the key health challenges such as cancer and diabetes that continue to ravage our families."
The free cancer screening camp will offer a range of medical services, including breast and cervical cancer screening for both men and women, awareness programs for prostate cancer, cryotherapy for pre-cancerous lesions, HIV counseling and testing, screening for blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and Body Mass Index (BMI), NHIF membership registration, and nutrition.
This is the second free cancer screening camp to be held by the bank, following a similar event in Kisumu in January 2019, where hundreds received free cancer screening services.
