Uhuru, Raila Donate KSh 3 Million Following Precious Talent School Tragedy ¶
On September 28, 2019, Raila Odinga led a memorial service at Telecom Grounds near Ngong' Road, where he represented President Uhuru Kenyatta.
During the service, Raila announced that the government would take stern action against contractors who disregard building codes and put the lives of citizens at risk.
Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga have donated KSh 3 million to support the construction of new classrooms at Precious Talent School following a tragic incident that left 18 students dead and 64 injured.
The incident occurred on September 23, 2019, when a two-story building at the school collapsed, killing 18 students and leaving 64 others injured.
"Rais Uhuru Kenyatta has donated KSh 1 million to support the families of the victims and KSh 1 million to support the construction of new classrooms," Raila said.
He also announced that the government would establish another institution at Lenana School due to the increasing number of students.
Raila also called on government officials to take action against contractors who are negligent in their work and put the lives of citizens at risk.
He also used the opportunity to campaign for Imran Okoth in the upcoming by-election in Kibra.
