The Safari Rally, one of the oldest international motorsport events, is set to return after an 18-year hiatus. The event, which was last held in 2002, will feature a more international lineup, including teams from Europe.
According to a statement by Oliver Ciesla, the managing director of WRC Promoter, the event's organizers aimed to make the competition more international by including more European teams, and they have succeeded in doing so with the new calendar.
Japan and New Zealand have also been included in the event, with Japan making a comeback after a decade.
On September 27, 2019, the World Rally Championship (WRC) announced that the Safari Rally would return after an 18-year absence, with a more international lineup.
