Thirdway Alliance Blames Government for Challenges Facing Punguza Mizigo Bill ¶
As the Punguza Mizigo bill faces significant challenges, Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot has accused the government of using any means necessary to sabotage the bill, including bribery.
According to Aukot, many prominent politicians in the country have rejected the bill and instead supported the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) proposed by Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta.
Aukot has also accused the government of using taxpayers' money to bribe members of parliament to reject the bill.
"We are shocked by the way the government is using any means necessary to sabotage this bill, including bribery," Aukot said.
Aukot has also praised Kenyans who contributed to the success of the bill, saying that they have shown that they are committed to finding solutions to the country's problems.
However, Aukot has also criticized the government for not providing adequate support to the bill, saying that it has been left to struggle despite collecting over a million signatures.
"If this bill were to pass, each county would receive approximately KSh 100,000 to undertake development projects," Aukot said.
Despite the challenges facing the bill, Aukot remains optimistic that it will eventually pass, saying that he is committed to finding solutions to the country's problems.
