On September 27, 2019, Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura found himself at the center of a social media storm after posting a photo of a child living with albinism on his Facebook page.
He claimed the photo was of him in his younger days, but it was later revealed that the picture belonged to German publication Deutsche Welle and was taken in Zambia.
Despite initial attempts to defend himself, Senator Mwaura was forced to retract his comments and apologize for the fake news.
He shifted the blame to his social media handlers, sparking further debate on social media.
