Buying Kenya Power Tokens Using MPesa ¶
On September 27, 2019, Citizen TV published a guide on how to buy Kenya Power tokens using MPesa.
Here's a step-by-step guide:
- Go to the M-Pesa menu and select 'Lipa na M-Pesa.'
- Click on 'PayBill' and enter the KPLC Business number, which is 888880.
- Enter your account number and the amount of money you want to use to buy tokens.
- Enter your M-Pesa PIN and click 'Send.'
- Wait for a confirmation message from both M-Pesa and Kenya Power.
- Once you receive the confirmation, you can enter the tokens in your meter box.
For those with Equitel lines, follow these steps:
- Select Eazzy Pay from your Equitel menu.
- Choose the bank account number to pay from.
- Select business number – KPLC Tokens.
- Enter your KPLC Prepaid Meter Number and press OK.
- Enter the amount you wish to pay, which should be between Shs. 100 and Shs. 500,000.
- Enter your Equitel PIN and press OK.
- Confirm that all details are correct by pressing 1 OK.
- You will receive a text confirmation of the transaction from Equity bank.
- KPLC will then generate prepaid tokens valid for your meter and send via SMS.
Additionally, you can pay your postpaid electricity bill using MPesa:
- Go to the M-Pesa menu and select 'Pay Bill.'
- Enter the Kenya Power business number, 888 888.
- Enter your new Kenya Power account number.
- Enter the amount you wish to pay, which should be between Shs. 100 and Shs. 35,000.
- Enter your M-Pesa PIN.
- Confirm that all details are correct.
- You will receive a confirmation of the transaction via SMS.
For those with Equitel, you can also pay your postpaid electricity bill:
- Go to the Eazzy Pay menu and select 'Pay Bill.'
- Choose the bank account number to pay from.
- Select business number – KPLC Bills (Post Paid).
- Enter your new Kenya Power meter number.
- Enter the amount you wish to pay, which should be between Shs. 100 and Shs. 500,000.
- Enter your Equitel PIN and press OK.
- Confirm that all details are correct by pressing 1 OK.
- You will receive a text confirmation of the transaction from Equity bank.
