As the country grapples with a surge in cancer-related health challenges, the need for early cancer screening has never been more pressing.
Co-operative Bank, in collaboration with the Beth Mugo Cancer Foundation and other partners, has launched a nationwide program of free cancer screening camps to help identify cases where early intervention can make a difference.
On September 27, 2019, the Beth Mugo Foundation, in partnership with Co-operative Bank, the Kakamega County Government, and other organizations, will host the second free cancer screening camp at Lumakanda Primary School in Lugari Constituency, Kakamega County.
The event is open to everyone in Kakamega and beyond, and hundreds of residents are expected to receive free cancer screening and related medical advice.
Co-operative Bank has committed Sh. 10 million over five years to support the Prevention of Cancer campaign, with plans to host free cancer screening camps in all counties of Kenya.
The bank's Group Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Gideon Muriuki, appealed to other corporate institutions and Kenyans of goodwill to join hands and create a movement around the importance of early screening and testing for key health challenges such as cancer and diabetes.
