As cancer cases surge in Kenya, the Beth Mugo Cancer Foundation, in partnership with the Co-operative Bank and other organizations, has launched a nationwide initiative to provide free cancer screening camps.
The first event of this kind was held in Kisumu in January 2019, where hundreds of residents received free cancer screening and medical advice.
On September 27, 2019, the second free cancer screening camp will take place at Lumakanda Primary School in Lugari Constituency, Kakamega County, hosted by the Beth Mugo Foundation in collaboration with the Co-operative Bank, the Kakamega County Government, and other partners.
Everyone in Kakamega and beyond is invited to attend the free cancer screening event.
The Co-operative Bank has allocated KES 10 million to support the Prevention of Cancer campaign over five years, with plans to extend the initiative to all counties in Kenya.
According to Dr. Gideon Muriuki, Group Managing Director & CEO of the Co-operative Bank, 'We appeal to other corporate institutions and Kenyans of goodwill to join hands and create a movement around the importance of early screening and testing for key health challenges such as cancer and diabetes.'
