On September 27, 2019, Estonian-based technology company TAI+ launched a mobile app that enables truckers to connect with cargo shippers directly in real-time in Kenya.

The app provides a marketplace where customers seeking reliable cargo transporters can be linked to transporters seeking consistent cargo at the best price.

According to Rait Raal, TAI+ Chief Executive Officer, the app will promote trust and transparency in the cargo handling process by allowing truckers to see all cargo features, including price, before choosing to take the shipment.

“This will also enable business owners to access data analytics that helps them make the best decisions for their business,” Raal explained.

The logistics industry in Kenya has faced several disruptions, including regulatory and digital challenges, as well as customer demands for more information and control over services consumed without multiple intermediaries.

With the ongoing expansion at the Port of Mombasa, cargo volumes have increased daily to over 1.3 Million TEUs, making it difficult for the 10,000 trucks available in the Kenyan market to fully satisfy the growing demand, leading to delays, penalties, and disgruntled customers.

The TAI+ app aims to provide a transparent platform to bridge the demand for regular cargo shipments and reliable carriers, guaranteeing reliable and safe cargo freight.

The app is backed by a robust and scalable technology developed by Reach-U, an Estonian company, and has already attracted 300 trucks signed up as demand increases.
