Published on September 27, 2019, Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz has spoken out against the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) for allegedly extorting him with excessive tax demands.
According to Diamond, TRA is trying to 'finish him dead' by imposing unfair taxes on his Wasafi Festivals. He claims that the tax authority wants to pocket more than his team will make from the festivals.
During an impromptu interview with the press, Diamond expressed his frustration with TRA's demands, stating that he refused to pay a hefty fee for posters at the Wasafi Festival held in Iringa town.
He argued that it was unfair for him to pay 18% tax at the end of every year and still pay taxes at the end of every show organized by Wasafi.
