Published on September 27, 2019, Octoppizo, a Kibra-born musician, has criticized Kibra parliamentary hopefuls for focusing on tribal politics rather than engaging with the local community to understand their needs.
Octoppizo, who has expressed interest in becoming the President of Kenya, believes that the current hopefuls are more concerned with using Kibra as a platform to measure their political muscle rather than addressing the concerns of the local residents.
He accused the hopefuls of not consulting him closely before setting out to contest for the Kibra seat, and instead, engaging in tribal politics that do not benefit the community.
Octoppizo praised the late Ken Okoth, who he believed was the best leader to have represented Kibra, and expressed his disappointment with the current hopefuls, saying that none of them have the intellectual leadership to match Okoth's.
He also threw shade on Jubilee's candidate, Mariga, saying that his popularity does not make him a leader, and that one needs good leadership skills to lead people, not just popularity.
