On September 27, 2019, a brazen robbery shook Nairobi when Administration Police officers escorting a cash shipment brandished guns and made off with Sh72 million.

The incident occurred at a Standard Chartered bank ATM in Nairobi West, where G4S officials were loading the cash.

Police investigations revealed that the robbery was a well-planned operation involving G4S officials, who have since been arrested and charged alongside other APs involved.

"We have arrested four more suspects linked to this robbery, and all are security officers," said George Kinoti, Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Those arrested include a KDF officer from Kahawa Barracks and three Administration Police officers, including a couple: Simon Gichuru Karuku of Thika and Caroline Njeri Waithira of Thogoto Sub County, as well as Florence Wanjiru of Githurai Police Post, who is Simon's sister.
