On September 25, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kenya seized six luxury vehicles that were allegedly stolen abroad and shipped to the country.
The high-end cars, including three Mercedes-Benzes and three Range Rovers, were impounded at Mombasa port by detectives drawn from DCI's Serious Crime Unit.
Investigations by Interpol revealed that two of the cars were stolen from the United Kingdom and South Africa, with one of the Mercedes-Benzes stolen from a South African national, Mrs. Tshegofasto Mabyane, and another from the UK.
DCI warned that no one would be allowed to steal from one country and enjoy the fruits of their labor in another.
Three of the remaining cars were found to have evaded tax by being processed as semi-trailers, while the last vehicle, a Range Rover, had a Toyota Probox registration number.
