On September 26, 2019, the General Service Unit (GSU) deployed officers to the Nkararo-Enooretet border in Transmara, Narok County, to quell renewed clashes between two Maasai clans.
Two people were killed and several others injured in the clashes, which erupted on Wednesday evening, September 25, 2019, over a piece of land.
Narok County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti stated that GSU officers were dispatched on Thursday morning to reinforce regular police on the ground.
Three people, including two chiefs, have been arrested and are being held at Kilgoris Police Station in connection with the skirmishes.
According to a local source, the two fighting groups engaged each other for the better part of Wednesday evening, armed with bows and arrows, over a piece of land in the border.
Land officials are on the ground to establish the border, and the government had previously intervened in the conflict, with the two communities agreeing to have land adjudication officials and the county land registrar identify the boundaries and erect beacons in the presence of eight local leaders.
