On September 23, 2019, a devastating incident occurred at Precious Talent School in Nairobi, Kenya, resulting in the deaths of eight pupils and injuring 64 others. The tragedy unfolded when the school's classrooms collapsed, leaving a trail of destruction and heartbreak.
As the investigation into the incident continues, authorities have made a significant breakthrough. Mr. Moses Wainaina, the owner of the private school, was arrested on Thursday and taken into custody at the Kabete Police Station. He is expected to appear in court on Friday for a miscellaneous application, where the police intend to request that he be held in custody while the probe continues.
Among the charges that the police intend to prefer against Mr. Wainaina is causing death. His wife, Freshia, is also being sought in connection with the incident. Additionally, officials from the Nairobi City County's planning department are expected to be dealt with next week, according to an official aware of the probe.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji and Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti visited the scene of the tragedy. A post-mortem examination was conducted on the bodies at the City Mortuary.
The school has since been closed, and over 800 pupils who were studying there have been relocated to different schools. The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community, and the investigation is ongoing.
