Published on September 26, 2019, a spate of criminal incidents in Kiambu County has led to a possible shake-up in the area's security and national government administration.

Residents have been affected by rising criminal activities, resulting in deaths, several rape incidents, and valuables worth millions of shillings stolen during late-night break-ins.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has assured residents of their security, stating that the government will deal ruthlessly with any criminal gang terrorizing locals.

During a visit to the area, Matiang'i said, 'It is our job to be awake at night so that wananchi sleep peacefully. We are going to comb this place, and we will be hard on these criminals.'

He challenged the security team in the region to be proactive and deal with the criminals, adding that the employment of more National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) in the county will be concluded by mid-October to ensure security.

The Cabinet Secretary announced that the reorganization of security and national government administration in the county has begun to address the inherent administrative challenges that have compromised security operations.
