President Uhuru Kenyatta's long-awaited visit to Central Kenya is finally set to take place, with local leaders and State departments preparing projects for commissioning during the week-long visit.

According to insiders, the President has a 'bag of goodies' for his backyard, aimed at countering claims by Tanga Tanga leaders that he has been neglecting the region in terms of development.

These claims, made by local leaders supporting Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, had to be toned down by Uhuru's angry warning to slow down the MPs who were on a smear campaign across the region.

Political analyst James Mithika, an Igembe North politician, said, 'It is good the President is coming because he needs to remind rent seekers in Tanga Tanga that he is still the region's kingpin.'

Inspectors from various Cabinet Secretaries, including James Macharia (Transport), Simon Chelugui (Water), Joe Mucheru (Information Communication), and Peter Munya (Trade and Industry), have been tasked with overseeing the projects ahead of the visit.
