On September 26, 2019, the government took drastic measures to ensure the safety of students in Nairobi, shutting down three private schools due to substandard learning structures.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha announced the closure of Precious Talents School in Dagoretti and Pama Academy in Kangemi, citing the need to protect students from harm.

The government has also withdrawn operating licenses for both schools and ordered their pupils transferred to nearby public schools.

At Precious Talents School, 800 pupils will be distributed to neighboring public schools, with 480 pupils going to Ngong Forest Primary School, 180 pupils to Jamhuri Primary School, and 130 pupils to Riruta Satellite Primary school.

The government has also revoked the license of the school's proprietor and called upon the DCI to launch investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, Pama Academy in Kangemi has been ordered shut, with 472 pupils being distributed to New Kihumbuini and Kihumbuini primary schools in Kangemi.

The government has also revoked the license of St Catherine Bombolulu Primary School in Kibra over unsound structures.
