Eight MPs from northern Kenya have called for the ouster of Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu over allegations of evicting livestock herders.

Speaking at the National Assembly on September 25, 2019, the MPs said the government must take action against Ngilu to prevent the loss of Kenyan lives.

Adan Keynan, the MP for Eldas, said: "As we are led by the law, Charity Ngilu must be ousted and the Kenyan government must take action against her. We urge the international community to take action against Ngilu to answer the allegations against her,"

The MPs also accused some police officers of colluding with herders to evict the livestock herders.

"We have information and evidence that some police officers are colluding with herders to evict them. We don't know where they are going as they left without any food for their livestock," the MPs said.

The MPs who signed the petition include Adan Keynan, Abdi Mude of Lafey, Abdullah Bashir of Madera North, Abdi Omar of Balambala, Mohamed Garane of Lagdera, and Abdikarim Osman of Fafi.
