September 26, 2019 - A mobile app designed to connect cargo shippers directly with truckers in real-time has been unveiled in Kenya, aiming to address the sector's challenges.
The app, developed by Estonian-based Tai+, will provide real-time analytics to the logistics industry, helping to address issues such as lack of proper systems, trust, and transparency in cargo handling.
According to Tai+ CEO Rait Raal, the app will bring sanity to the sector by promoting trust and transparency in cargo handling. 'This will enable business owners to access data analytics that helps them make the best decisions for their business,' Raal said.
The app will also provide a marketplace where customers seeking reliable cargo transporters will be linked to transporters seeking consistent cargo. 'We are here to set global logistics standards by making cargo transportation business simpler, more reliable, and giving the customer more control on meeting the cargo needs,' Raal added.
Kenya's logistics industry has faced several disruptions, including the ongoing expansion process at the Port of Mombasa, which has seen cargo volumes increase daily to over 1.3 Million TEUs. The app aims to bridge the gap between supply and demand in the transport industry, providing a transparent platform for reliable and safe cargo freight.
The app, which is downloadable on Play store for Android devices, has already attracted 300 trucks signed up.
