On September 26, 2019, a surprise visit by Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti to Kenya Pipeline Company's Konza City station in Machakos county sent shockwaves through the organization.
Accompanied by DPP Noordin Haji and Kenya Revenue Authority Commissioner General James Mburu, Kinoti was on a fact-finding mission to investigate corruption allegations at the company.
According to sources, the officials were following up on investigations at the state oil distributor, which had previously led to the arrest of the then-managing director Joe Sang and other officials in December 2018.
During their visit, Kinoti and his team held a meeting with acting Managing Director Hudson Andambi for several hours before taking a photo session.
Earlier, they had inspected the PS8-Konza station, where KPC has a terminal for storage facilities.
