As tea bonus payments approach in Bomet next month, sex workers have flocked the town, targeting reckless farmers who may squander their earnings.
According to reports, the women have booked lodging rooms in Bomet town, a scenario similar to other trading centers in the region.
Bomet Central Police Commander Musa Imamai Omar has issued a warning to local farmers, cautioning them against carrying large amounts of cash, which they risk losing to the women or marauding gangs.
Commander Omar advised farmers to engage in development activities instead of careless drinking and merry-making at the expense of their families.
Additionally, the police boss warned farmers to beware of the risks during the wheat-harvesting season in Narok County between July and August, when the women are said to take advantage of unsuspecting farmers.
