Co-op Bank has set aside KSh 10 million to support the Prevention of Cancer campaign, which aims to increase the rate at which diseases are prevented and treated at an early stage.
The bank has partnered with the Beth Mugo Cancer Foundation to host free cancer screening camps across the country, with the next event scheduled for Friday, September 27 at Lumakanda Primary School in Kakamega County.
The free medical camp will provide screening for key lifestyle disease conditions, including breast, prostate, and cervical cancer, blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and Body Mass Index (BMI).
Co-op Bank's Group Managing Director and CEO, Gideon Muriuki, appealed to other corporate institutions and Kenyans of goodwill to join hands and create a movement around the importance of early screening and testing for key health challenges.
The Beth Mugo Cancer Foundation has already held a similar event in Kisumu in January 2019, where hundreds of residents received free cancer screening and related medical advice.
Co-op Bank has also partnered with other worthy causes, including the First Lady's Beyond Zero Initiative on child and maternal health, the School Fees Bursary Program, and capacity-building in the over 15 million-member co-operative movement under the Co-op Bank Foundation.
