On September 26, 2019, a photo of a young boy with albinism was shared by Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura on his Facebook page, with the caption claiming it was him 'sharing his leadership skills at an early age.'

The photo, which was taken in 1986 at Githunguri, Kiambu County, shows the boy chatting with other children.

However, online users were quick to question the authenticity of the image, with some pointing out that it had been used by an international publication, Deutsche Welle, in a story titled 'Zambian Albinos Call For End to Brutality'.

Deutsche Welle credited German-based press agency dpa Picture with the photo, but Mwaura has stood his ground, claiming that the photo had been used by international media houses over the years.
