On September 26, 2019, Kiambu Member of Parliament Jude Njomo announced the Hon. Jude Njomo Golf Challenge, a golf tournament to be held at the nine-hole Kiambu Golf Club.
The tournament, which will take place over the weekend, aims to raise funds to support sporting activities in public primary schools within Kiambu Constituency.
According to Njomo, the funds raised will be used to purchase equipment, construct and renovate playgrounds, and hire trainers, among other initiatives.
As part of the initiative, Njomo has requested golfers to donate their unused clubs and extra golf balls for the noble cause.
A number of corporate bodies have committed to support the programme, including DT Dobie, Rhombus Construction Ltd, Kings Pride Properties Limited, and others.
Meanwhile, in Nyeri, the CIC Insurance Group tournament will be held at the Nyeri Golf Club course, attracting a field of 160 players.
Other notable golf events taking place over the weekend include the Old Cambrian vs Laibon at Royal Nairobi Golf Club and the annual Shangilia Charity golf tournament at Vet Lab Sports.
