On September 26, 2019, the Medical Board disputed claims made by Daily Nation that David Sankok was a medical doctor. According to Dr. Lukoye W'Atwoli, Sankok is not a doctor and has never been trained in medicine.

Dr. Lukoye condemned the newspaper for publishing false information and accused it of misleading the public. The paper had stated that Sankok was a University of Nairobi-trained medical doctor who runs a clinic and a hotel in Narok.

Dr. Lukoye took to Twitter to express his disappointment, stating, 'Dear readers, the person in this story is NOT a doctor and has NEVER been trained in medicine. @dailynation knows this but still insists on misleading you.'

Dr. Lukoye has previously accused Sankok of fraud, stating, 'One of the biggest problems in Kenya is quackery, fakery, and impersonation. Here is a person without any medical qualification passing himself off as a surgeon.'

It is worth noting that Sankok was previously expelled from the University of Nairobi for his involvement in student unrest during his tenure as the Student Organisation of the Nairobi University (SONU) chairman.
