On September 26, 2019, Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios received a suspended 16-week ban from the ATP, which was deferred pending his compliance with several conditions.

The ban was imposed due to Kyrgios' pattern of behavior, including verbal abuse of officials and spectators over the past year.

According to the ATP, the suspension will be lifted at the end of a six-month probationary period if Kyrgios meets the conditions, including seeking additional support from a specialist in behavioral management during the off-season.

Earlier this year, Kyrgios was fined $113,000 for various infractions, including ball abuse, leaving the court without permission, and unsportsmanlike conduct during a match at the Cincinnati Masters.

He had also been disqualified and fined for throwing a chair onto the court during the Rome Masters in May.

The ATP investigation found that Kyrgios' behavior constituted a violation of the ATP rule book, and he has five days to appeal the decision.
