On September 25, 2019, a heated debate between Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi and Jubilee nominated senator Millicent Omanga took place on live TV, hosted by Jeff Koinange.
The debate centered around the Jubilee Party's nomination of McDonald Mariga for the Kibra by-election, with the two Jubilee leaders sharply contradicting each other.
Representative Gedi, aligned to the Kieleweki wing of Jubilee, stated that her conscience could not allow her to support the Jubilee candidate for Kibra, citing Mariga's promotion of betting as a concern for children.
Senator Omanga responded by bringing up Representative Gedi's alleged leaked nudes, which she claimed were also not suitable for children.
The debate also touched on the role of politicians and public leaders in remedying disasters, following the Precious Talent primary school disaster.
Senator Omanga called on the media to apologize for branding leaders 'disaster celebrities,' arguing that it was irresponsible and unfair.
