On September 26, 2019, a dramatic incident unfolded at a petrol station in Eldoret, leaving Kenya Senator Kimani Wamatangi shaken but alive.

During an appearance on NTV's 'People and Politics' talk show, Wamatangi recounted the harrowing experience, alleging it was an assassination attempt.

"It happened at a petrol station in Eldoret. A truck nearly knocked me down. Everybody who witnessed that incident screamed in shock. That was an assassination attempt," Wamatangi narrated to a hushed audience.

Although he declined to specify the exact date and location of the incident, Wamatangi hinted that it was linked to his involvement in the Ruaraka land scandal.

The scandal had previously drawn attention when Nairobi businessman Francis Mburu accused Wamatangi and three other senators of requesting a Sh100 million bribe to write a favorable report on the land's ownership.

Wamatangi had responded to the allegations, challenging Mburu to provide evidence to support his claims.
