Thirteen years after becoming a mother for the first time, actress Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Selina, is expecting her second child.
According to her social media posts, Kamau, who claims to be the highest-paid actress in Kenya, had been keeping the pregnancy a secret until Tuesday when she decided to go public with the news.
She revealed that she and her husband, Philip Karanja, a former Tahidi High actor turned director, wanted to encourage hopeful mothers and career women who are trying to balance their family and professional goals.
"The cat or rather the baby is out of the bag. We are over the moon. We really wanted to keep this to ourselves but then again I remembered the many women on my timeline, hopeful moms to be, rainbow moms, career women trying to decide between family and your goals. I feel you this is for you. God's time is the best," she wrote.
Since her colourful wedding to Karanja on November 17, 2017, fans have been urging her to get pregnant for her husband, who adopted her 13-year-old son from a previous relationship.
At 19, Kamau got pregnant with her first child while in her first year at Kampala International University in Uganda.
Earlier this year, in an interview with Sunday Nation, she revealed that she was ready to get pregnant for her husband from day one, but he kept postponing their plans, citing personal reasons.
