On September 26, 2019, a team of 21 golfers from the Coast region of Kenya, led by Mombasa Golf Club chairman Symon Wambugu, set off for Rwanda to defend their title in an inter-club golf tournament.

The team, known as the 'Sharks,' will face off against their Rwandese counterparts at the par 72 Nyarutarama's Kigali Golf Club in a two-day tournament.

The tournament, dubbed the 'Ocean and a Thousand Hills Challenge,' will feature a four-ball match play on the first day and a foursomes match play on the second day, with a prize-giving ceremony to follow.

The event is an annual inter-club tournament that will alternate between the two clubs, with the Mombasa team having claimed victory in the previous edition held in Kenya last April.

Team captain Wilfred Achila expressed confidence in their team's ability to defend their title, saying, 'This is going to be a very competitive challenge. However, we are the 'Sharks' the most ferocious sea creature. We are ready for the might of the Rwandese — the Silverback Gorilla.'

The Rwandese team, led by captain Davis Kashaka, is also confident of their chances, with Kashaka saying, 'My team is ready and the inter-club tourney is expected to boost domestic golf tourism between our two countries.'
