Andrew Kibe, a popular Kiss FM morning show presenter, has found himself in a financial bind after being dragged to court over a seven-year-old loan.
According to court documents, Kibe borrowed Sh215,000 from his colleague Joshua Ichang'i Weru in 2012, but failed to settle the debt within the agreed 18 days.
As a result, the loan accrued interests of over Sh2 million, with the two parties having initially agreed on a Sh55,000 interest rate.
As of June 2018, when Weru filed the suit, the loan had grown to Sh2.5 million, leaving Kibe with a significant debt to settle.
On Wednesday, Weru asked the court to order Kibe to repay the loan with interest, as well as cover the costs of the lawsuit and any additional relief deemed fit by the court.
The court has since instructed Kibe to pay Sh500,000 by next Thursday and appear in court to explain how he plans to settle the remaining balance.
