Rhonda Kipkoech, the mother of former chief of staff Maryanne Kitany, took the witness stand in a divorce case between her daughter and Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.

Ms Kipkoech testified that Mr Linturi took her daughter as a wife in 2016 and that he is still her son-in-law.

She also claimed that Mr Linturi bought her a vehicle, a Toyota Ex-trail, which was registered under the name of Atticon Company Limited.

Ms Kipkoech stated that she normally uses the vehicle for her gospel mission.

During cross-examination, she insisted that Mr Linturi is still her son-in-law and that he had bought her the vehicle.

Ms Kipkoech also alleged that Mr Linturi had stolen one of her land documents, a title deed.

She stated that she was informed of the missing document by her daughter last year.

Ms Kipkoech is a shareholder at Nonico and Barons companies.

She claimed that her properties were taken from her without her consent and that she had bought them from the proceeds of her late husband's properties.

However, she noted that she cannot remember the dates or the number of properties that she bought due to her age.

Ms Kipkoech stated that she owns shares in different companies by virtue of being the head of the family.

The court noted that there were inconsistencies on the dates of the alleged wedding ceremony of Kitany and Linturi, but the amended affidavits indicate that it was conducted on March 26, 2016.
