DP Ruto Launches Campaign to Back Mariga in Kibra By-Election ¶
Naibu Rais William Ruto has launched a campaign to back McDonald Mariga in the upcoming Kibra by-election, promising to complete stalled projects in the area if Mariga wins.
On September 25, 2019, Ruto met with youths and women from Kibra at his Karen office, where he outlined his plans to support Mariga's campaign.
Didmus Barasa, the MP for Kimilili, led a delegation of leaders from the Luhya community who attended the meeting and pledged to ensure Mariga's victory.
According to Ruto, if Mariga wins the election, he will ensure that all stalled projects in Kibra are completed through the National Youth Service (NYS) to benefit the residents.
"We have discussed the stalled projects in Kibra with the youths, women, and elderly from Kibra led by McDonald Mariga, who is the Jubilee Party candidate for Kibra," Ruto said.
"We will ensure that there is a system in place where the stalled projects will be completed through the NYS to ensure that they benefit the residents of Kibra," he added.
Mariga's campaign has been marred by challenges, including his failure to register as a voter in Kibra and being blocked by a group of Jubilee MPs.
Many have said that if Mariga wins the seat, Ruto will have proven himself to be a seasoned politician.
