Published on September 25, 2019, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has finally opened up about his source of wealth, a topic that has been a subject of controversy for years.
According to Joho, his journey to success began in his childhood, growing up in a poor background in Sidiria Majengo. He moved to various areas in Mombasa, including Kongowea, Kisauni, and Old Town, which he believes was a blessing in disguise.
Despite facing challenges in his early years, including difficulty attending school and skipping a year, Joho credits his early start in business for his success. He revealed that his first major business breakthrough was when he was around 20 years old, winning a 6.6 million shilling clearing and forwarding contract.
He further diversified his business in 1997, venturing into pesticide control and waste management, which boosted his income further. Joho also addressed allegations of being a drug dealer, stating that the claims have been there for years but he has chosen to fight them through legal means.
Looking ahead to 2022, Joho expressed his ambitions to vie for the presidency, marking a significant step in his political career.
