Chelsea's Emerson Palmieri has been ruled out until mid-October after suffering a thigh injury during the 2-1 Premier League defeat by Liverpool on Sunday.

Italian international Palmieri, who has started five out of six league games this season, joins fellow defender Andreas Christensen on the treatment table after the Danish center-back suffered a knee problem in the same match.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard provided an update on the injury, stating that Palmieri 'won't be back until the other side of the international break (during mid-October)'.

Lampard also mentioned that Christensen's injury is not severe, but a timeframe for his return has not been given.

Chelsea, currently 11th in the league with eight points, will host Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
