Published on September 25, 2019, Vihiga United head coach Sammy Okoth reflects on the team's struggles in the National Super League (NSL) following a disappointing start to their campaign.
Relegated from the top-flight last season, Vihiga United currently ranks sixth in the NSL, having secured nine points from their opening five matches.
Coach Okoth, who was brought in to help the team avoid relegation but ultimately failed in that bid, attributes their struggles to the increased competitiveness of teams playing against them.
"They tend to frustrate us more so in the first half, but we try our best to improve in the second half," Okoth said.
Following the release of 15 players and the recruitment of ten new ones, Okoth believes that as time passes, the team will begin to show a more cohesive rhythm, ultimately leading to better results.
Next up for Vihiga United is a match against St Joseph Youth in Mumias over the weekend.
